Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the day to day operations of the human resources department. Duties will include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, as well as, assisting in the maintenance of staff trainings throughout the year.

The HR Assistant must be eager to learn, as well as, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be highly organized, and work well with others. This individual must have a team oriented attitude, and demonstrate a positive attitude toward work and the agency's mission and goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring process of applicants, including employment verifications and/or background checks.
  • Process request for schedule changes internally for Direct Support Staff ensuring the appropriate paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining staff trainings, which will include helping to develop and implement an annual training schedule, as well as, coordinate additional trainings throughout the year.
  • Assist in conducting all new hire orientations, on-boarding, and training programs.
  • Administrative tasks such as filing paperwork, completing employee documentation, recording employee data changes, as well as, maintain and file paperwork for current or terminated employees.
  • Help coordinate HR projects.
  • Provide administrative support to Human Resources Manager and Staff Development Coordinator.
  • Assume other responsibilities as requested by Human Resources Manager.


  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Proficient in word/excel/access/data base creation and management.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's license and insurance.

Job Specifics:

Salary: $18-$20/hr

Hours: Full-Time Hourly Position / 8:30am - 4:30pm with ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the agency.
